Maybe watching the NFL on TV has convinced you that you’re not cut out to absorb a vicious blow delivered by a slobbering 350 pound lineman. Or perhaps viewing an episode of American Idol has persuaded you to truncate your nascent diva career. But let’s be honest: these harsh reality tests have not squelched your competitive spirits!
Haven’t you dreamt of uttering, “What are impeachment proceedings, Alex?” Or with the utmost confidence and poise reciting, “Triskaidekaphobia, T-R-I-S-K-A-I-D-E-K-A-P-H-O-B-I-A?” Well, Alex isn’t hardy enough to visit Lansing this time of year BUT Everybody Reads, and “Merriam-Webster are FEARLESS!
On Wednesday, March 14th from 5 – 8 PM, we will be hosting a honey of a spelling bee for everyone! The bee will consist of three divisions:
Besides snacks and fun hand-outs, Merriam-Webster has been kind enough to donate some amazing prizes. Each of the three division winners will receive a copy of the humungous Webster’s Third New International Unabridged dictionary. Each runner-up will receive copies of the Merriam-Webster’s 11th Edition Collegiate Dictionary & Thesaurus. Everybody Reads will make certain that ALL participants receive a prize just for being brave enough to participate!
