The Jane Addams Children's Book Awards are given annually to the children's books published in the preceding year that most engagingly and effectively invite children to think about peace, social justice, world community, and the equality of the sexes and all races.  The Jane Addams Children's Book Awards have been presented annually since 1953 by the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) and the Jane Addams Peace Association  An award and honor books are named in each of two categories:  Books for Younger Children and Books for Older Children.

Authors and artists of award-winning and honor books each receive a certificate and a cash award. Seals designating each recognition are available for purchase by publishers, libraries, schools and others wanting them from the Jane Addams Peace Association www.janeaddamspeace.org  A complete list of children’s books that have received the Addams Award can be found at http://home.igc.org/~japa/jacba/index_jacba.html .
