In the history of grand adventures, heroic quests, and noble battles, goblinkind has never been more than a footnote. All that is about to change.... When Jig's patrol is ambushed by a group of adventurers, he does what goblins do best: throws down his weapon and surrenders. Thus begins Jig's quest, as the adventurers force him to serve as their guide through the labyrinth of tunnels beneath the mountain. Led by Prince Barius Wendelson, their goal is an ancient magical artifact, hidden here ages past. As the group moves deeper into the tunnels, Jig finds himself face to face with creatures of goblin legend: ogres, trolls, not to mention the long-dead servants of the dreaded Necromancer, all leading to one final, deadly battle. To survive, Jig will have to find a way to combine heroism with his own goblin ideals. The result is an unpredictable adventure that will leave readers cheering this unlikeliest of heroes and questioning the most basic traditions of fantasy quests.

Summary With her signature wit and unflinching honesty, Asya Raines has written a breathtakingly beautiful life story. Asya's Laws takes readers on a Latvian woman's courageous journey from her young adulthood in an impoverished and oppressive homeland to the promise of a new life, and a lasting love, half a world away in America. Far from the fairy-tale voyage of which she dreams, hers is a pilgrimage that tests the very limits of her endurance, character, love and passion. By following her heart, Raines suffers at the hands of her husband's indiscretions and detached love. When she takes a leap of faith to find happiness, she is once again left with heartbreak. Each time we believe that love is lost, Raines' unfailing tenacity, her personal strength, and several remarkable twists of fate combine to bring comfort and hope once again. Each of these twists teaches her a lesson that shapes her existence. Raines shares her lessons - Asya's laws - in a voice that resonates with emotion and honesty. From the joy of a lover's first kiss to the outrage of religious discrimination to the devastation of a husband's betrayal, Raines recounts tale after compelling tale of love, anguish, renewal and strength. Asya's laws tell us not to ignore our instincts. Asya's laws tell us to listen to others and then do things our own way. Asya's laws tell us to be free in love. This unforgettable work will bolster your spirit and nourish your soul.
About the Author Asya Raines arrived in the United States in 1997, leaving her native Latvia in pursuit of love. As a young Jewish girl growing up in the city of Riga, Raines came from a family of meager means, subject to the maddening practices of a Communist regime. She attended public school in Riga, and graduated from the Latvian Technical University in 1975 with a degree in economics. She has worked at a variety of managerial and support jobs at companies in both Latvia and in the United States. She is mother to a daughter, Anna, and a son, Simon. She currently lives in the United States, with her companion, the Frustrated Writer, nearby. This is her first book.
