Our
Communities / Our Families
The book and gift shop, the
community room and the book exchange of "Everybody Reads," are unifying features
of a community resource that we seek to offer.
While we are a bookstore (and are dues paying
members of the ABA)- we have no desire to be a "mainstream" or "general" shop.
We want to offer publications, periodicals, gifts and services that are simply
not available in other bookstores or anywhere else for that matter!
Yeah, we do carry some bestsellers and traditional
literature- but more importantly we seek to serve "underserved" communities by
offering books and resources for:
- Children & Teens (ESPECIALLY books on different cultures,
faiths, and "non-traditional" families)
- Women's Issues
- Single Parents (did you know that approx. 48% of students in
Lansing Public Schools come from single parent or non-traditional households?
How many resources are out there for single parents?)
- Those Grieving and Recovering from Loss (for children, teens
and adults)
- Those Living Through Divorce and its aftermath
- Gay and Lesbian Issues
- Peace and Social Justice
- Progressive Politics
- Faith-Based Groups and Religious Understanding
- Environmentalism
- Cultural Diversity
- Immigrants
- Minorities
- The Physically Handicapped
- The Emotionally Handicapped
- The Mentally Handicapped
- Foster Families
- Adoptive Families
- Animal Advocacy & Vegetarianism
- Michigan- Geography, History and Travel
- The Home Schooled
